Observational Drawings from Natural History Specimens @ Pratt Central Library
April 26 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Explore the art of observational drawing with amazing collections from the Natural History Society of Maryland, a private nonprofit dedicated to conserving Maryland’s natural heritage and educating its citizens on the natural sciences since 1929. Their museum houses over 200,000 natural history specimens and artifacts dating from the 1800s to the present. The collections are both historically and scientifically significant to Maryland
Thanks to the traveling collections from the Natural History Society of Maryland and their generous volunteers, a Fine Arts Librarian is able offer a three-part series where attendees can learn to draw from a range of specimens, including fossils, skulls, and pinned insects.
We will begin with a graphite pencil, but there will be an opportunity to experiment with a range of mediums including colored pencils and watercolors.
Drawing experience is not necessary and all skill levels are welcome. Patrons are free to attend any or all three of the programs. Each class is different and doesn’t support the others.
