Hair self-portraits!! This project started with the video “The women are coming” - a slide show of women world leaders. After a little research, the kids made a list of leadership characteristics. They used collage and a black/white photo of themselves along with drawing and design work to create a self portrait representing their own traits of leadership through the hair - a traditional feature of femininity. #internationalwomensday2019

Today Kids in 3D Design learned the story of the Nike FlyEase - a shoe with no hands necessary closure - inspired by a kid with limited dexterity because he has Cerebral Palsy. Each student came with a problem to solve with a shoe and designed a prototype with paper and tape!
Inspired by Matisse’s cut-outs of figures, the kids made their own poses, determined shapes and made paper drawings.
