Marble Day - Play all day! FULL STEAM AHEAD camp with Ms.Lucy has been a hit!!
Watercolor water lilies for the win at WINE&ART WEDNESDAY! These adults really leaned into their creative process to complete these compositions! 🐸
FULL STEAM AHEAD camp learned about echolocation, vibrations, mates code, sound amplification… practiced talking and listening the “slinky way”, played ten phone, made crank and pulley moving animals, their own written language of sound, and felt jellyfish, today! 🪼 👂 🐬
FULL S.T.E.A.M. AHEAD camp is off to a sonic start! How does sound travel in land, water, air…space? How do whales communicate? How can you make your own musical instruments? It’s all part of this week of camp focused on sound with Ms. Lucy! 🌊
Artists who come to OPEN STUDIO are often encouraged to “make many” of one concept to push to or through something, understand their style better, take risks, and get closer to the message and meaning of their expression. This is the ENGAGE phase of the Creative Process Framework. Alan has made many flower drawings and we reviewed them today. He has new insights and enthusiasm to keep him working! 💐
Kids in PAINTING Advanced Art Afternoons painted watercolor and acrylic using the same approach: shapes, lines, dots and glazing comparing the possibilities and limitations of the two mediums.
Learning layers with the prompt to paint lines, dots, shapes and glaze in both watercolor and acrylic in PAINTING Advanced Art Afternoons for ages 10-16. The next week of Advanced Art Afternoons is MIXED MEDIA is August 10-23. Register on “camps schedule”! 🖌️
What a fun color mixing exercise - disco balls painted on mirrors! 🪩
In SPIDERS & STITCHES camp kids looked at quilts and used legos to create a composition. They arranged their Lego pieces on a post-it which created a 10x10 grid. They transferred their design to a large piece of gridded watercolor with paints sticks. Then they added oil pastel and crayon for fabric pattern and texture. Next, they painted all their pieces with watercolor and acrylic paint. Finally, they “stitched” adding thin dashes or lines to complete their work. A little play, design, math, choice making, and mixed media exploration to end an awesome week of camp!
SPIDERS & STITCHES has been all about spirals this week! 🌀
Artists created bird sculptures with newspaper, tissue paper, and cardstock last week during LAND, WATER, & SKY camp. For the wings, they alternated between a fringe pattern and a teardrop pattern. This lesson was inspired by @thelittleartistsroom
PAINT & PLAY + Artists are focusing on CREATING JOY this week during summer camp. Flavorful food is one way to tap into joy, so we made clay kabobs and decorated tin foil platters.
