Kids in FACE IT camp made listening sticks based on the works of the Yarrentyr Art Center in Alice Springs, Australia. They premise of the artists collaborative series (pic 6) is “Every face has a story, every story has a face: Kulila!” Kulila means listen. The kids this week practiced different leadership skills and learned the value of the opposites or partner skills… talkers need to be know how to listen, leaders need to know how to follow, teachers need to be learners. Thank you so much @art__teacher__life for introducing this work to us at Social Studio!
Kids in FACE IT camp made symmetrical faces using pattern blocks. They colored them in and added gel pen details inspired by the trapunto paintings of Pacita Abad, a Filipino artist who traveled the world for inspiration and studied at the Corcoran School of Art in DC in the 1979s.
Kids wrapped up FACE IT camp by making monochromatic expression self portraits. First they put the face in their chosen expression for a photo. Then they used Prismacolor markers on denril over their image to map out the light, medium and dark areas. To emphasis the feeling further they used the opposite color for the background. #creativeprocess #selfportraits #socialstudiosessions

Growth happens when we know where we are! One of the ways to know where we are is with feedback. Feedback and reflection are essential components of the EXCHANGE phase of #creativeprocess At Social Studio we say, “When you know where you are (in the creative process) you know what to do!” Thank you for sharing! 🙏

Great day for a shady woods walk! Campers crossed streams, braved a dark tunnel, and collected sycamore bark for their masks. #socialstudiosessions
