UPLIFT is the theme for this year’s Black Cherry Puppet Theater Community Parade, part of the annual Sowebo Festival on Sunday, May 25, 2025. The parade uplifts the power of art to connect people, to create inclusive community spaces, and to celebrate that we are stronger and more beautiful in our diversity! We invite you to join us in making a parade together and generate collective joy as a powerful way to hold each other up! This year’s parade also marks the 45th anniversary of Black Cherry Puppet Theater providing arts programming and connecting generations of people with the magic of puppetry!
Black Cherry will be hosting a series of open parade builds, or work sessions, staffed by volunteer community artists, to make elements for the parade. All work sessions are free, and will take place at Black Cherry Puppet Theater at 1115 Hollins Street in Baltimore!
